The Last Word

Fr. Paul Robinson, SSPX
Publisher, Angelus Press

Dear Reader,

“The Last Word” column made its first appearance in the pages of The Angelus in June 2010. At that time, it was a place chosen to present a short news story from the life of the Church. It was not long, however, before the column was directed to other purposes: to be a place for an editorial written by the Canadian District Superior. This change took place at the same time that The Angelus was rebranded and went from being a monthly publication to being a bi-monthly one. Since then, Fathers Jürgen Wegner, Daniel Couture and David Sherry have presented their thoughts in “The Last Word.”

One of the reasons for repurposing “The Last Word” was to show that The Angelus is a publication that belongs to the SSPX’s Canadian District as well as the District of the USA. Each issue contains the editorial of the US District Superior opening its pages and the Canadian District Superior closing them. Thus, while each District has a separate newsletter providing updates on the activities of the District—the Regina Coeli Report for the USA and Convictions for Canada—there is one publication for both districts that is directed to “forming the whole man” by aspiring to “deepen your spiritual life, nourish your studies, understand the history of Christendom, and restore Christian culture in every aspect” (these words are found very near “The Last Word” column in every issue of The Angelus).

This occasion for reminding our readers of the role played by “The Last Word” column has been provided by a change of the District Superior in Canada. Fr. David Sherry has now moved on to take charge of the District of Great Britain and Ireland, and has been replaced by Fr. Yves le Roux. It is thus my pleasure to welcome Fr. le Roux to these pages, starting with the next issue, and to rejoice in the continued collaboration of the Canadian District in The Angelus.
